Teared, Torn, Text, and Timber

Recognizable element of my art works are those teared or small torn papers with letters or writings which records my thought during the moment of its creation plus the wooden wall or planks and of course the frames or framing which divide the element.
You will also notice that my use of symbols doesn't divert very far from realism...at times in can be classified as a trompe l'oieil. I like to represent common things and the usual things that are often taken for granted or those things that are in my immediate reach.
This insignia style appears accidentally during my Self-discovery phase right after the CCP visual art workshop (1985) and during that time, perhaps I was the only one with that characteristic...but now, I've seen several almost similar works....and maybe I can assume that they somehow able to spread this style...the internet has shrink the world very greatly.
Those images came spontaneous but I carefully analyzed which item will go or where to place them, and some additional non-copied elements too and then at times stylizing to fit the thought I had in mind. During my early stages before I was greatly consumed by the domestic world, I frequently use pencil (Mongol) to represent that idea..or the concept in itself....

AID in exchange for works of ART (Typhoon Haiyan Victims)

In light of the current tragedy - Typhoon Yolanda  (Haiyan) - that befell our fellow countrymen, including friends and relatives, we - the members of Styles, Strokes and Sketches Society (4S) - Philippines decided to extend our hand through the art works we make. Paint it forward!

AID in exchange for works of ART

As an organization of Filipino artists, we would like to use our talents to help our fellow artists and countrymen - particularly the victims of Typhoon Yolanda - recover from this hardship by donating funds we gather from this campaign.
The other side of this campaign aims to help aspiring and striving member artists by distributing their works as PERKS for those who will support this project. To help them, we will give proper compensation for their artworks.
In a nutshell, whatever is left after we cut out the expenses for the PERKS we will send out to all DONORS, shall be given to the Typhoon Victims.

BENEFICIARIES

The objective of this campaign is to help rebuild the lives of those affected by Typhoon Yolanda-Haiyan. This typhoon destroyed the homes of about 673,000 individuals (channelnewsasia.com). We may not be able to target everyone, but we will make sure the short list we have will gain and hopefully start anew through the AID we provide.
We have planned to divide the collected funds and distribute them to the areas of

1. Estancia-Iloilo (relief efforts are yet to reach them)
2. Mahaplag-Leyte
3. Eastern Samar
4. Bgy. Lonoy-Roxas City

And of course, our efforts will be documented.

Base Color Green Technique

I've never realized the importance of underpainting till now. Thank you so much to Master Jose Tolentino Jimenez for giving me these idea to try underpainting using green as base color.
So I made some research via the internet and found quite some good articles and how to's. So it was a classical technique called verdaccio or the dead painting.
Employing this style ables me to identify tonal value.

Photo: I've just realized I need different set of brush for this technique...anyway, must practice with make-up artist to master this.
Bhel can I borrow your make-up set??? hehehe

Photo: Learning along the way. I never fail to amaze myself....Life is a never ending process of unlearning and learning. So who said you can never teach old dogs new tricks.

To God be The Glory!

Sporadic Resonance

The Multi level of my art speaks of my randomness...

I usually jumps from one artworks into another...and now I come to accept that weakness and made it as my strongest point now.

I never stop rediscovering new avenues....
