The Green Effect in Oil

Most of my artists friend had been telling me the delight of using oil. I had to think multiple times before I purchase my first set of oil paint. Everything was pure instinct; even when I pick up Refined Linseed oil. I have to look for the cheapest oil set. I found one not minding the quality. Remembering the words of the masters, it's not the material but the artist.  So there goes...

So what is linseed oil for?
On this work after many failed attempts I think I somehow knew now how the paint behaves and how to treat it.

I saw a Vision of Me

I knew it's an important vision when the dream was so vivid.
I came from a sort of a business trip. I shoulder some of the expenses...a little sacrifice hoping for a big return afterwards. When I was transported after that trip I was a little worried balancing expenses or left-over. Then I  realized, I still have to reimburse P 3,500.00... that was good enough to erase my worries.     Then for continuation...I was in this huge place, like I was an employee there...probably a mansion, having an event where guest came. I assisted a huge SUV to park over a rocky hill, standing on unstable ground...the detail of those pebble and rock I remember so well. When I had the glimpse of the person inside, he was someone familiar to me from childhood....but when he came out of the vehicle, he turn out to be Fernando Poe Jr. with make-up to cover blemishes around the eye area. He shake my hands. I was elated....

Strange dreams but I know it signify something, especially when that dream was t…

Acquaintance in Oil

"The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering." - Bruce Lee

Happy 73rd Birthday Bruce Lee !!!

Unlike waterbase paint, where you get instant oil paint I have to wait. It was totally a different approach as far as I'm concern. Still getting the hang of it. I have to waste so many paint until I get the result I want. Finally, well at least the above painting enables me to understand the basics. Discovering oil paint all by my self is sometimes frustrating. Below was my actual first attempt, a portrait for Aubrey. It just turn out that I'll be more incline to create impressionism for this medium. The consistency of oil to dry very slow allows more playful blending yet my patience can't keep up at first. So I rely on this strokes...which is by the way, I termed Im-Fher-sionism. Which you can check on previous post.

Then I understand what Van Gogh was trying to say.

So what is painting if I'm not enjoying what I'm doing? This style gave me a calm spirit...

AID in exchange for works of ART
As an organization of Filipino artists, we would like to use our talents to help our fellow artists and countrymen - particularly the victims of Typhoon Yolanda - recover from this hardship by donating funds we gather from this campaign.    The other side of this campaign aims to help aspiring and striving member artists by distributing their works as PERKS for those who will support this project.
